From mid October to
mid April La Ventana offers warm water, good wind, and a variety
of sailing sites well suited to anyone from beginning waterstarters
to expert sailors. Sailing conditions are uncrowded. A Windtracks
Magazine article rated La Ventana as the most reliable winter
California windsurfing vacation spot in Baja. The wind is very
civilized, with calm mornings and evenings for other activities
or relaxing. About late morning the winds begin, light at first,
and typically building to 15-25 mph in the afternoon.
Then there are the epic days of the big Nortes; these days are peppered throughout
the season and provide great high wind sailing and swell for those who are up
to it...there are even a few spots for the wave sailors on those big days. Our
location is in the best area in La Ventana with a great beach to launch from
and negligible shore break most of the time. All equipment is rigged and ready
to go out from our palapa on the beach, which makes sail and board changes quick
and easy.
