  Weather

The climate in the La Ventana area is dry and desert-like. What little rain we receive falls in August through October. During the winter months of December thru mid February the daytime air temperature varies from 65 to 80 degrees F with a water temperature of 70-75 minimum and even warmer early and late season. Most days you will be quite comfortable with a swimsuit or shorts and T-shirt. A sweatshirt or windbreaker is sometimes nice for cool and windy days. Nights can sometimes be quite cool, especially in December and January. UGG or similar fleece boots are great to slip into after sailing. Long pants and a pile jacket or heavy sweatshirt are good for night and early morning lounging. The sun is intense: bring a hat and waterproof sunscreen, preferably SPF 15 or higher if your skin is fair.

If you will be windsurfing bring your wetsuit, harness, and booties. Many local sailors still sail barefoot. During the months of December, January, and February you probably want a full suit with short sleeves (3mm/2mm),especially if you get cold easily. For early and late season sailing a shorty or spring suit is fine. Bring gloves and a helmet if you want them for sailing, biking, or kayaking.
